God of Pain: A Grumpy Sunshine College Romance (Legacy of Gods Book 2)

**This deluxe first-print edition will have sprayed edges.**
From USA Today bestselling author Rina Kent comes the second in a dark and steamy college romance series featuring elite criminal families and morally gray heroes. Creighton King and Annika Volkov are complete opposites: he rarely speaks, and she rarely stops. But beneath the surface, their secrets might be enough to break them...
Creighton King is silent, brooding, and hostile. Annika Volkov loves him. She is his opposite in every way: a ray of sunshine, the life of the party, and constantly talking. What Annika doesn't know is that Creighton's quiet, beautiful exterior masks a dark, hidden persona. A violent one.
Creighton knows he will never escape his past, so he takes his pain out on others. It's his only release. He doesn't expect to find any attraction to the girl that is his antithesis. But as Annika attempts to get closer to him, he finds that he enjoys her company more than anyone else's--especially once he discovers her wild side. And now that he's infatuated, she will never escape him. Even if their families' histories are deeply connected in ways neither of them could have imagined.
Annika is the light and Creighton is the dark. Will she be able to light the way for him? Or will he succumb to the darkness and take her down with him?

I can't give too much of the plot away because the whole book is one big twist from the introduction of characters until the end.
Annika loves Creighton from afar. He won't even speak to her. She slowly but surely gets him to tolerate her more by being his sexual masochist to his sadist. It starts off light but gets to be pretty serious in a hurry, and he encourages her by spending more time with her and opening up to her more and more. The more comfortable he gets with their sexual relationship, the more comfortable he gets with their boyfriend/girlfriend relationship, although he doesn't want to label it.
Things come to a head when Annika goes to NY to get her father's permission to date Creighton, and everything goes horribly wrong, both in the states and when they get back to England. Let's just say that everybody's got knives, and like a true American, Annika brings a gun to the knife fight.
Annika feels terrible about how this turns out and moves back home to the states only to be kidnapped by Creighton, and they fall deeper in love. When Annika's dad shows up to "rescue" her, she holds a gun to her head and says if either Creighton or her father make her choose one or the other, she'll kill herself. She wins and chooses them both.
She was a virgin going into the book. There was only sado-masochism for sex in this book and there was A LOT of it. I can't think of a single instance where he wasn't punishing her for something. That can be hot to some people. There's also very light BDSM. Neither of these things is my scene, so I'm only giving it 🌶🌶🌶/5 chilis on the spicy scale. I like lovey-dovey romantic sex and Creighton goes hard, leaving welts every time.
This has an HEA and 2 epilogues that go a bit into the future, but not much because of upcoming books.
Duel narration, 5 narrators, multiple POVs, first person
