Perfect for fans of Lauren Robert's Powerless and George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones series, Glass Sword is the high-stakes follow-up to the #1 New York Times bestselling Red Queen.

Mare Barrow's blood is red—the color of common folk—but her Silver ability, the power to control lightning, has turned her into a weapon that the royal court tries to control. The crown calls her an impossibility, a fake, but as she makes her escape from Maven, the prince—the friend—who betrayed her, Mare uncovers something startling: she is not the only one of her kind.

Pursued by Maven, now a vindictive king, Mare sets out to find and recruit other Red-and-Silver fighters to join in the struggle against her oppressors. But Mare finds herself on a deadly path, at risk of becoming exactly the kind of monster she is trying to defeat. Will she shatter under the weight of the lives that are the cost of rebellion? Or have treachery and betrayal hardened her forever?

DNF. Don't care. Absolutely boring and repetitive. Won't even bother with a review on this. No one else should either.

After finishing Red Queen, I knew this series was going to be a good one and WOW, book two did not disappoint! I loved the concept of Mare & squad running away to save the new bloods and seeing her become a form of a leader was exactly what I expected. She’s conflicting with her morality and it shows so much growth in her character that I know is not over yet. This book had a lot more action and magic which I thoroughly enjoyed because that was a piece I felt missing from book one. I also found myself crying in this one so there’s that.... I feel a lot of parallels to other YA dystopias/fantasies but I think that’s what is making me love it so much. Sometimes, if it works, it works. It also has to still be done well which in this case, it absolutely is.

I WISH I'D KNOWN HOW THIS WAS GOING TO END SO I COULD HAVE HAD THE NEXT BOOK AT THE READY!! I blame Anya - for not warning me...!

For those who wish for Sheldon Spoilers - Have the next book ready to carry on reading. Seriously.

Anyway, the book itself. I enjoyed it. It was good. There were moments when I was all *sigh* this is supposed to be gobsmacking and shocking but its what, the fifth one now? There was so much that happened that it almost stopped being shocking? But in the same breath some of the events were brilliant and sort of kept you on your toes. I just think there were a few too many.

Mare travels all over in this book and I cannot wait to read the next book - so excited I do believe I'm going to be buying it over borrowing it from the library!

The beginning was a little slower pace, but obviously it's needed with the added information. I absolutely loved the 2nd half, especially with the addition of the various new characters! It's also refreshing to see a protagonist make mistakes & face the harsh consequences of each decision. She can't save everyone and is confronted with the most difficult choices, basically none of them promising a happy ending. This makes her much more relatable & even in her darkest moments, I still find she's justified in her actions.
