I could not put this book down. I love Vermeer and his talent to depict daily life, and I feel the author has done just that in this book, depicting daily life in the Vermeer household.
The movie does not do this book justice. This is a persuasive glimpse into what life must have been like as the servant to Vermeer. Thoroughly enjoyed, and wish I could read it again for the first time.
a good read for me to re-ignite my interest in fiction. quite honestly it had been way to long since i last read a book and I found this one on a flea market in rural France.
Beautifully written and very evocative of time and place, but such a small story, rather underwhelming.
