This was my first time reading Clay McLeod Chapman. I loved the book cover, and was intrigued by the premise. The book started off well, but the storyline started to fall apart around Part Four (page 178), and went progressively downhill. The storyline had too many plot holes, and there was a lack of character development. There were numerous themes, but none of them were well developed. I was surprised to see how many books the author cited as source material, because there was no evidence of it in his writing. The novel was 100+ pages longer than necessary, given how uneventful the last third was. The ending was anti-climatic. This material would have worked better as a short story or novella.
So I I thought the book was okay I was really sure about the drug thing but I'm kind of disappointed her and Silas didn't get together and she didn't bring him back but it is what it is it was scary different so I gave it three stars
