I'm not a fan of short stories, but I started reading it before I realized what it was. I though about half of the stories were quite beautifully written. There were 3 or 4 that I didn't finish. All were quite tragic. I haven't read any of her other work, but I did see the Shipping News, so she might just specialize in "melancholy". I will likely read one of her novels, as she is a very skillful writer.
