Feed (Newsflesh, Book 1)

Feed is an electrifying and critically acclaimed novel of a world a half-step from our own that the New York Times calls "Astonishing" -- a novel of zombies, geeks, politics, social media, and the virus that runs through them all -- from New York Times bestseller Mira Grant.

The year was 2014. We had cured cancer. We had beat the common cold. But in doing so we created something new, something terrible that no one could stop. The infection spread, virus blocks taking over bodies and minds with one, unstoppable command: FEED.

Now, twenty years after the Rising, Georgia and Shaun Mason are on the trail of the biggest story of their lives--the dark conspiracy behind the infected. The truth will out, even if it kills them.

From Wayward Children to Killer Mermaids, and now Zombies, Mira Grant has never disappointed me once with her writing. Her books are intriguing and insightful, imaginative and enthralling. This is unlike any other zombie book I've ever read. There were so many twists and turns on this emotional roller coaster ride of an adventure. I seriously loved the characters and their interactions. Ryman seems, for all intents and purposes to be a politician that actually has some integrity. We'll see if that holds up in future books. Despite being a zombie book and including encounters where the zombies killed, there wasn't gratuitous gore. There really wasn't anything I didn't like about this book, except that I really need more details on the repercussions that will follow the actions of the villains in this story. It left me a sobbing mess in the middle of the night and vowing to seek vengeance. I'm hoping future books in the series will answer these and other questions. I absolutely see myself starting the next book today.
