Fangirl Down: A Spicy Sports Rom-Com with a Touch of Adventure, Get Ready to Sweat (Big Shots, 1)

#1 New York Times bestselling author Tessa Bailey launches a super sexy sports romance series with a rom-com about a bad boy professional athlete who falls for his biggest fan...
Wells Whitaker was once golfâs hottest rising star, but lately, all he has to show for his âpromisingâ career is a killer hangover, a collection of broken clubs, and one remaining supporter. No matter how bad he plays, the beautiful, sunny redhead is always on the sidelines. He curses, she cheers. He scowls, she smiles. But when Wells quits in a blaze of glory and his fangirl finally goes home, he knows he made the greatest mistake of his life.
Josephine Doyle believed in the gorgeous, grumpy golfer, even when he didnât believe in himself. Yet after he throws in the towel, she begins to wonder if her faith was misplaced. Then a determined Wells shows up at her door with a wild proposal: be his new caddy, help him turn his game around, and split the prize money. And considering Josephineâs professional and personal life is in shambles, she could really use the cashâŚ
As they travel together, spending days on the green and nights in neighboring hotel rooms, sparks fly. Before long, theyâre inseparable, Wells starts winning again, and Josephine is surprised to find a sweet, thoughtful guy underneath his gruff, growly exterior. This hot man wants to brush her hair, feed her snacks, and take bubble baths together? Is this real life? But Wells is technically her boss and an athlete falling for his fangirl would be ridiculous⌠right?

I have never read a book that contradicts its vaguely ââfeministââ narrative so drastically. Every suggestion of progressive ideals (for lack of a better term) in it were immediately accompanied with violent, abusive, or generally unhealthy behaviors and situations. Even my ghostly great grandmothers are giving Tessa Bailey side eye because itâs not even feminist to believe the MFC (and any other character) is foolish. Itâs more than a stretch to imagine that a criminally violent, alcoholic, obsessive man that literally never gives a good interview would have genuine and immediate sexual pull, much less romantic pull. I donât care how rich and famous he is in the world of golf. Give me a break.
Anyone who dares read this book should be aware that it started out badly written and steadily got worse in every other quality.
(I was happy to see the inclusion of male-reviving analingus. It wasnât enjoyable to read any of the low-quality sex scenes, but Iâd like to see more scenes like this in contemporary romance in general.)
Loved the type 1 diabetes rep and feeling seen by that characters issues/struggles with everything diabetes.
