I love fairy tales. I love the original versions. I especially love the Disney versions.
This, my friends, is no Disney version.
But I was really into it. I couldn't put it down. I've gushed about it to several people since reading it in the one sitting, including one friend who said something along the lines of "I'm judging you right now" as I totally geeked out.
This was just so darn fun. There was a little bit of a whodunnit mystery going on, but my real fascination had more to do with the characters themselves - trying to figure out who was who before I was told, observing their relationships with one another, finding out what became of characters from my favorite tales. I love a beloved princess dropping some f-bombs. I love a prince being a sleaze and a player.
This was a solid 4 Stars for me, and I'm going to keep reading (and reading and reading and reading). Confession: I've already read the next one as well and like it even better than the first.
