"Perhaps it was because this was the only way I had learned to get to know someone, with a distance between us, with enough space for me to curate and filter the best version of myself possible. "
❀ I found this book to be quite ordinary. While I did not dislike it, I also did not find it particularly remarkable. Each story that Dolly shared about her life was interesting and engaging, and I appreciated the advice she offered. Despite some criticisms I had about the book, I still enjoyed reading it to some extent and would rate it a 3.5 out of 5. However, I do not plan on reading it again in the future.
More of a 3.5
All I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton is an incredibly relatable and heart-warming read, filled with insightful and honest anecdotes about love, relationships, and growing up. As a reader, I found myself nodding along to much of what Dolly was saying, even though we are from different generations and parts of the world.
What I loved most about this book was how easy it was to relate to Dolly's experiences. Her reflections on the highs and lows of dating, friendships, and finding your place in the world spoke to me on a personal level. I think this is a testament to Dolly's excellent writing skills, which allow her to draw on her own experiences to create a story that feels authentic and relatable.
Throughout the book, Dolly explores the joys and tribulations of love, and how it can be both the most incredible and the most painful aspect of life. But even when she was writing about heartbreak or disappointment, there was an underlying feeling of positivity and hope that left me feeling uplifted after each chapter.
Overall, I would highly recommend All I Know About Love to anyone who is navigating their early twenties, or who has ever felt lost or uncertain about their relationships, friendships, or career. Dolly's writing is warm, intelligent, and extremely relatable, and her story is a reminder that we are never alone in our journey towards finding out what love means to us.
