I rarely give a book all the stars but Entreat Me deserves it. A perfect mix of a "Beauty and the Beast" retelling (one of my favorite things" all mashed up with "The Taming of the Shrew," Grace really, really did fantastic work with this one.
Louvaen Duenda is an overbearing widow trying to keep her beautiful sister's chasteness intact as she runs off with a young hot noble (who she suspects is not actually a noble). Wintered-in at Ketach Tor, she contends with a crochety sorcerer, the gentleman besotted with her sister, and the man's disfigured, sexy, cursed, adopted father.
Ten stars. I love that Louvaen isn't gorgeous. I love that she's bitchy, but not in an overly-annoying way. The relationship between the sisters is loving and comforting - no jealousy, no bitterness, just sisterly affection that teeters into parental overbearing on Louvaen's part. I love the relationship she develops with Ballard (the lord of the manor) and how hot she runs for him. This is a sexy book, and I've found ways to use the word "lusty" in regular conversation since reading it.
Apart from the awesome plot and the spicy-ness (which is *just* enough and not too much), Grace uses terms I've had to look up on wikipedia, and I *love* learning new things - the difference between a castle wheel and a regular spinning wheel, what a "buttery" is, and a fun few terms for male private places.
This is a longer review that I normally give, but I can't stop gushing over this book. I immediately started Master of Crows after this because I need the comfort of a series written by Grace Draven - this one could have been three times longer and I wouldn't have complained.
