“A sweet slow burn . . . sunshine in written form.”—USA Today bestselling author Lana Ferguson
For the first time in her life, Clementine “Emmy” Ryder has no idea what she’s doing. She’s accomplished everything on her to-do list. She left her small hometown of Meadowlark, Wyoming; went to college; and made a career for herself by doing her favorite thing: riding horses. But after an accident makes it impossible for her to get back into the saddle, she has no choice but to return to the hometown she always wanted to escape.
Luke Brooks is Meadowlark’s most notorious bad boy, bar owner, and bachelor. He’s also the unofficial fifth member of the Ryder family. As Emmy’s older brother’s best friend, Luke spent most of his childhood antagonizing her. It’s been years since he’s seen her, but when she walks into his bar and back into his life, he can’t take his eyes off her. Despite his better judgment, he wants to do a whole lot more than just look at her.
Emmy’s got too much on her mind to think about romance. And Luke knows he should stay away from his best friend’s younger sister. But what if Luke is just what Emmy needs to get her spark back? Or will they both go up in flames?

My perfect kinda book!
Done and Dusted feels like a warm breeze, dusty boots, and cruising country roads with the windows down. Lyla Sage gives Clementine Ryder and Luke Brooks a small-town romance full of horses, healing, brother’s best friend drama, and the tender pull of coming home.
Clementine returns to Meadowlark, Wyoming after a riding accident shakes her confidence and leaves her questioning her barrel racing career. She is brave, stubborn, and loyal. Clementine returns to her family's ranch while living with avoidance, trauma, and ADHD. Sage writes Clementine's mental health struggles with refreshing directness. As a fellow direct ADHD girlie, I loved seeing it on the page. Luke Brooks is Clementine’s brother’s best friend, Meadowlark’s resident bad boy, and exactly the man she should probably avoid. Naturally, he becomes the one who sees her fear, respects her grit, and helps her remember who she is.
The equine, rodeo, and ranch life pieces felt researched. Sometimes they felt so on the nose that I could tell Sage was excited to show off her research work. As someone who rode professionally, traveled the rodeo circuits, barrel raced, worked cattle, and grew up around ranch life, I appreciated the realness behind Clementine’s accident recovery. Falls can mess with your body, but they can also get in your head. Luke building Clementine a barrel racing course in the middle of the night so she had a safe place to practice made me swoon. That act of service was tender, thoughtful, and exactly the type of support Clementine needed.
The chemistry was fantastic. Luke and Clementine have that delicious we should not be doing this energy from the start. Their first sex scene was unreal. Luke making Clementine orgasm before her clothes were even off had me wondering if I was getting a fever. Lyla Sage can write spice! The scenes were hot, playful, and full of mutual want.
I did an immersion read with the audiobook and paperback. This made the experience even more fun. Stella Hunter and Aaron Shedlock both did a great job bringing Clementine and Luke to life. The author interview at the end of the audiobook was such a sweet bonus. My only audiobook complaint is that this was dual narration instead of duet narration. I will forever want romance audiobooks to give me the full duet experience.
I loved Done and Dusted. It was sweet, steamy, comforting, and full of small-town cowboy romance charm. Clementine and Luke’s love story felt healing without losing the fun. Pick this up if you want a sweet and spicy cowboy romance with small-town charm, rodeo, ADHD representation, and a love interest who knows exactly when to tease, support, and build you a whole practice course in the middle of the night.
Entertaining, and ridiculously easy to binge. Excelent balance between emotional vulnerability, chemistry, cowboys, and small-town atmosphere. 🤠 One of those books that reminds you reading can feel cozy and fun.
