This book was simply too long. The book was 450 pages, it could have used with about 75 less pages.
In all of those 400+ pages the writer did not build up the MCs feelings for each other. This book was straight insta-lust. They go from saying they hate each other, to fucking, to denying their feelings again to acceptation. I would have enjoyed the story more if the author built up the sexual tension instead of insta-lust.
I usually do not care about this in mafia books, but there was an excessive use of the word "fuck" when adding emphasis to a point (ex. I fucking told you to stop. Why the fuck is that a bad idea. He's a fucking idiot.) The writing was not bad, but it needed an editor to tighten everything up.
Also I saw the betrayal twist coming from the moment the character was introduced.
