Delilah Green Doesn't Care (A Bright Falls Novel)

A clever and steamy queer romantic comedy about taking chances and accepting love—with all its complications—from the author of Astrid Parker Doesn't Fail.
Delilah Green swore she would never go back to Bright Falls—nothing is there for her but memories of a lonely childhood where she was little more than a burden to her cold and distant stepfamily. Her life is in New York, with her photography career finally gaining steam and her bed never empty. Sure, it’s a different woman every night, but that’s just fine with her.
When Delilah’s estranged stepsister, Astrid, pressures her into photographing her wedding with a guilt trip and a five-figure check, Delilah finds herself back in the godforsaken town that she used to call home. She plans to breeze in and out, but then she sees Claire Sutherland, one of Astrid’s stuck-up besties, and decides that maybe there’s some fun (and a little retribution) to be had in Bright Falls, after all.
Having raised her eleven-year-old daughter mostly on her own while dealing with her unreliable ex and running a bookstore, Claire Sutherland depends upon a life without surprises. And Delilah Green is an unwelcome surprise…at first. Though they’ve known each other for years, they don’t really know each other—so Claire is unsettled when Delilah figures out exactly what buttons to push. When they’re forced together during a gauntlet of wedding preparations—including a plot to save Astrid from her horrible fiancé—Claire isn’t sure she has the strength to resist Delilah’s charms. Even worse, she’s starting to think she doesn’t want to...

This was so much fun - I enjoy all of these characters so much. Looking forward to reading the final book in the Bright Falls series soon!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this book!!!! The cast of characters in this book are just hilarious! Can't wait to see more of their interactions in the next two books.
Synopsis: Delilah Green has moved to New York and swore never to go back to Bright Falls where she grew up. But when her stepsister asks her to take the photographs for her wedding, she finds herself back in the small town. Her stepsister, Astrid, seems to act much differently now that she is with Spencer, and Astrid's two best friends, Claire and Iris seem to be up to something. Delilah was never close with Astrid's friends but now that they are all together again, she gets to see a different side of them - especially Claire. As the two are forced together for all the pre-wedding events, it seems like the two don't want to be apart. Is there going to be something between Delilah and Claire??
I have found that I am a huge fan of sapphic romance, and this one did not disappoint. I did enjoy the differing personalities between Claire and Delilah. Their romance has a perfect combination of sweetness and heat. Clearly they both wanted to follow their heart but they also seemed hesitant to let it derail their routines. And in the process of trying to figure their relationships out with each other, it also helps them figure out the relationships with others around them - Delilah with her stepsister Astrid and Claire with her child's father. What started out as a simple fling has shown the two women that there might be more to life than they previously thought.
Beyond these two characters and their relationships, the other characters were written so well! I honestly felt like the characters were leaping off the page. I can't wait to read the other two books in the series to see more of those characters as well as Delilah and Claire.
This book definitely lives up to the hype and I could totally see myself reading this again down the road, even though I know what's coming. Highly recommend!!
Quotes:
- It wasn’t a complete lie. True, Delilah had been a tad devious the night before at Stella’s, letting Claire go on like they were total strangers, reveling in how she’d feel when she found out they weren’t. But Delilah had also been turned on as hell, intrigued by adult, bisexual Claire Sutherland, a Claire who clearly thought adult Delilah was intriguing enough herself to approach the bar - pg. 93
- Delilah had completely cleared her plate and drained her third glass wine before she realized it. She’d been laughing. A lot. With Claire and Iris. Like they were actually friends and not a tangle of complicated histories simply tolerating each other for the night - pg. 148
- Back in New York, she worked for hours editing the photos. Days. And it was from these images, Claire, beautiful and in pain in the river, that Delilah got the idea for a series that would define her style, her whole career. Queer woman, turmoil, and water. - pg. 165
- This is what I want, Delilah said. My whole life, this is what I’ve wanted. A best friend. Someone who gets me, who accepts me. Someone who fights like hell to get me to see that they love me. Someone who lets me love them back. Someone who’s so goddamn beautiful, she makes my toes curl. Someone who calls me on my bullshit. Someone who makes me laugh. Someone who makes me look at her like this and looks at me the same way. Someone who…who’s my home - pg. 364

This was a really cute read! I think if you liked The L Word then this would be a good read for you!
Spicy, steamy, light hearted, funny, romantic, relaxing, adventurous and lovely. More character driven than world building or plot. Relateable characters. Warm.
