Dead Inside

A young hospital security guard with a disturbingly unique taste in women. A maternity doctor with a horrifically unusual appetite. When the two of them meet, they embark on a journey of self-discovery while shattering societal norms and engaging in destructively aberrant behavior. As they unwittingly help each other understand a world in which neither seems to belong, they begin to realize what it truly means to be alive...And that it might not always a good thing.

I dove into this book not knowing what to expect. I just kept seeing it around so I ordered it on an Amazon binge. And wow.
Morrison's critique of the absurdity of humanity, told from the perspective of an introverted necrophiliac, is as sharp and biting as it comes. I didn't want to relate to the protagonist because...necrophilia...but oh how so many of his observations rang true to me and that dry sense of humor just hit home like no other.
The best part is I never saw the twist at the end coming, even though he'd set it up perfectly and put it right in my face. This is one of the best books I've read this year.

I enjoyed this book because it was actually funny … very gory ofc but I enjoyed the humor & the twist. Fast paced
Made for shock value and was successful in that sense. I do not recommend it in general but especially not if you are anyway sensitive to the topics of sa, necrophilia (at points involving children), cannibalism (also involving children), self-harm, self-abortion via c-section, and general violence (and probably more I'm forgetting). It doesn't pull punches and describes every depraved scene in detail. I thought the main characters were kind of annoying but I don't know if I was supposed to like them anyway.
