I received an arc of Dark City Omega from author and I devoured it in 24 hours.

As the arc didn’t have TW listed I wanted to state them first: Bonding, misogyny, moments of sexism, usage of guns, knives, and vines as weapons,Betas/Omegas/Berserkers, mention of SA and potential SA of minors in past recounts of NPC characters, lots of Omega/Berserker kink, submissive/dominant behavior, fight scenes with depression of blood and dismemberments.

I believe this is my first Omega/Beta/Berserker themed book. The spicy scenes and verbiage used didn’t really seem to feel all that shocking to me. I’ve read work from this author before; with that being said I was NOT prepared to be hitting the ground running immediately when the story started and we meet Exho, a recently accented Omega out in Paradise Hole (basically the woods) fending for herself all alone while also trying to keep away from this hoard of Alphas out looking for her.

Right off the bat, I’d liked Echo’s character. She is strong she was resilient she’s smart she’s quick to think on her feet. She seems to be 10 steps of had everyone around her. She has his mindset of having planned or thought ahead. And I know from personal experience that comes from a fighter flight mentality, and in her world it literally means life or death or life in the servitude kind of position because Omega’s and betas don’t really have much power or say, and how their life pans out. Because of the hierarchy structure of their world.

The world doesn’t give you post apocalyptic entirely. It’s kind of a blend between post apocalyptic and steam punk, Innoway. But I’m not a steam punk reader, so that’s just my interpretation of the narrative, the story of Galamora universe.

Before I get too far ahead, I want to also quickly mention that the trigger warning that do and do not happen on the page. These are the ones that immediately stand out to me and important to mention: the SA isn’t very prevalent on the page but I think maybe two-three chapters it’s mentioned as Echo is going about her Journey to try and find a place for shelter or someplace to barter. She is describing the world that she lives in. It’s mentioned there and it’s mention I believe when Echo is speaking to the berserker about his sister and they talk about his past.

And speaking of the berserker he is, he’s a dummy. He’s a dummy and love him and we love that he’s a cinnamon roll, and he doesn’t know what he’s doing even though he has all of his power he is lost for words loss for what to do with himself or anything if he is not in the orbit of echo which is hilarious, and really adorable.

And while they’re adorable together, their spicy scene are anything but cute, cuddly and sweet🤷🏾‍♀️. So if this your first spicy book prepare to be blushing and dropping your jaw 😆.

Dark City Omega is a fast paced, supernatural adventure set in Gatamora an Omega/Beta/ Berserk universe. It has spice, fighting, an uprising on both sides that aim to challenge the current hierarchy status quo and characters who dare to challenge fate😉

DNF I just could not find it in me to finish this, the zombie plot alone made me want to end it but I just can’t get through the story anymore. DNF at 63%

This was like Avatar meets Tarzan meets Game of Thrones

All with unique creatures and fascinating physics of the land.

Like an alternative Earth with beastly and magical creatures that all live in different factions that divide the land up.
Some cities are party type, some are dangerous, some are magical, some are all of the above and more!

Our Dark City Omega is Echo and as soon as the book begins you are thrown straight into a moving scene and plot. As the reader I feel like I was thrown right into the hunger games of this unique world and I had to run to stay in touch with Echo. This made for an all consuming read, the kind you can really get lost in.

To stay running right along with Echo and Adam (her Beseker/Alpha) is to learn the plot, is to learn the law, is to learn the story that unfolds with each interaction and conversation.

I love how much Echo did not like Adam and Adam low key liked that. They're up and down relationship makes the third act (separation) break up also super understandable AND needed.

The steam is oeey gooey, and messy, and hot.

I feel like I learned a lot of the world building, but I am almost positive that once I read book 2 I will continue to learn more about the setting and over all roles of the creatures and their factions.

Elizabeth Stephens never ceases to amaze me with these intricate worlds and creatures. I don't know how it all lives in her head like it does. I am in awe.

Cannot wait for book 2!
