Daisy Haites (The Magnolia Parks Universe)

All twenty-year-old Daisy Haites has ever wanted is a normal life, but as the heiress to London's most notorious criminal empire, it's just not in the cards for her.

Raised by her older brother, Julian, after their parents were murdered, Daisy has never been able to escape the watchful gaze of her gang-lord brother. But Julian's line of work means that Daisy's life is . . . complicated.

And things don't become any easier when she falls hard for the beautiful and emotionally unavailable Christian Hemmes, who happens to be one of the few men in London who doesn't answer to Julian.

Christian's life is no walk in the park either, since he's in love with his best friend's girlfriend, Magnolia Parks.

He's happy enough to use Daisy to throw off the scent of his true affections--until she starts to infiltrate those, too.

As their romance blossoms into something neither was anticipating, Daisy and Christian must come to terms with the fact that in this life everything comes at a price. Relationships intersect and tangle, and Daisy, Christian, and Julian will learn that sometimes life's most worthwhile pursuits can only be paid in blood.

This was okay. I like MP way better but I’m saying that, I’ll probably read the next in series. 6/10.

2.5* rounded up. I rarely write reviews longer than a couple of sentences but...

God, what was that? After "Magnolia Parks", as book number 2 in the series, this really felt off. It's like the books weren't written by the same author? This one, even though it was about 400 pages long, felt like 700 pages. It took me forever to get through it and I wonder if this will be the case with books 3 and 4 in the series. I'm intrigued enough to continue, but after all the hype this got, I hate to say that I've been let down. It picked up in the last 20%.

What the hell was the point of the footnotes? In fact, there wasn't one. These were some of the most useless footnotes I have EVER seen in my life. Someone said in another review they would be fine if they never read another footnote in their life and honestly, I felt that.

Daisy's character felt like Magnolia 2.0. Just copied and pasted in a slightly different environment. Seriously, not a lot about them was different. The cop love interest felt extremely forced. Daisy's BJ was Romeo, her Tom was her Christian and her Christian was the cop. Even the love interests and the types of their relationships were almost 1=1.

I just... hope book 3 picks up. Edit: just saw it's 600+ pages. Lord help me if it feels as long as this one did
