Readers say *Cutting for Stone* is beautifully written with richly drawn characters and vivid medical descriptions set against turbulent Ethiopia. Man...
One of my all-time favorite novels.
Beautiful but tragic story of twins Marion and Shiva, orphaned at birth, growing up in a turbulent Ethiopia during the reign of Haile Selaisse.
Lots of richly formed characters, and his descriptions of the medical procedures read almost like prose.

This is one of those books that I will think about a long time after I finish it. This is the kind of book you read and want to talk about with others. I loved this book! Why only 4 stars then? Because it was so damn long! The story really picks up after the first 100 pages or so. Absolutely loved Ghosh & Marion. If only everyone could learn a little something from them. Beautifully written, amazing story of brothers, love & loss.
One of a kind story, with unforgettable characters...my only regret was that there was no part written from the perspective of Shiva; he seemed such an extraordinary character and his actions were crucial to the book's development.
Very interesting and absorbing book - well written - read for my daytime book club and we all thought it was a great book.
