A very dark read, but quite interesting 🤨 Sloane, a therapist found out her fiancé Takoma, had been cheating on her with one of her best friends, and had also gotten her pregnant. She was away at a Conference as speaker and found out from the friend via text message and pictures of the ultrasound and fiancé hand on stomach. She was devastated but pressed thru to be strong during her big speech. In comes Creed, whom she met on the elevator briefly but chemistry filled the air. He stayed, watched her speech and was intrigued by her. He was in town to kill someone. Behind the successful business was also an illegal empire ran by his father. He learned some disturbing things about his father, who taught him everything he knew about life and business. So he was very conflicted in the discoveries he came across. What was initially supposed to be just a one night stand turned into a crazy romance. He showed up at her office, bombarding his way and wanted her to be his therapist. She was shocked, but drawn to him and all his darkness. Again, it was a dark subject and read, but good.
This was a good read. A love and lust at first sight kinda story. I love how Creed immediately knew she was that girl and he would kill for her. Like, whoa! The dark part about the child pornography was a bit difficult to stomach, but overall the book was good.
Sloane is a therapist working to save young boys, young black boys who’ve been mislabeled, mishandled and misunderstood. She knows the struggles of poor home life, schools refusing to recognize the issues and lack of support. It’s her life’s mission to save those because she could not save herself or her baby brother. When she finds out her fiance is a liar and a cheater, what was supposed to be a one night stand turns into her greatest missing piece to finally healing herself.
Creed is a stone cold killer. He’s on a mission to delete every creep who has a fetish for young kids. In town to cross one off his list he runs into Sloane. She takes his breath away and her presence quiets all the chaos plaguing his soul. Just a look from her regulates his entire being. After one night, he claims her. She’s his and nothing stands in his way to keep her safe. This book was chilling. I enjoyed it. Sloane on the inside was strikingly different than what was presented to the world. She was Creed’s perfect match.
