Eh it was okay
TWs: addiction, suicide, violence, light stalking
This book was okay. It wasn’t my favorite. A lot of Shain Rose’s books have toxic couples in them. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don’t. This one just didn’t hit the mark for me. They both were equally frustrating to me. Both stubborn and angry people. It felt more abusive than love to me. It also felt that things wrapped up in a weird way. I wish that there would have just been more depth in their relationship. It felt like Cade didn’t have much depth to himself. Izzy had a lot but together it just didn’t feel right.

Good Read. Well written sex scenes and compelling characters. I think I might dip back in and try some other works by this author.
This started off in the middle of an idea then fell down a schizophrenic disjointed rabbit hole. The plot was rushed and the story overall felt very forced. Like when you’re in grade school figuring out how to write an essay and have to spiderweb diagram your thoughts. I tried but this was just not for me.
Izzy complains over and over that Cade "doesn't want me working for the government." It's the entire first few chapters. They work in cybersecurity and the approach to their job is so juvenile and under thought out. The writing relies on gimmicky tropes (her boyfriend telling her to lose a few pounds before they can get back together) and the humor is not funny. I'm tired of immature characters and poor writing that authors think is so witty. This has no substance and no foundation. There's no depth to either character.
Also I know we’re supposed to suspend belief but him being from the most notorious mob family and working for the government protecting our nation was too far fetched for me. Pick a lane.
