Chasing The Wild: An Ex-boyfriend's Dad, Age Gap Cowboy Romance (Crimson Ridge)

From international best-selling author Elliott Rose comes a new forbidden-love series...

What happens when you're snowed in on a mountain ranch, with the one man you definitely should not be fantasizing about?

I've always done what was expected of me. Layla Birch, the good girl.

Forced to grow up too fast. To take care of everything myself. I had a plan.

Only, I didn't count on him. Colton Wilder. The cowboy nearly twice my age.

He's my dream man. One who takes care of me, gives me a job, and makes my pulse thud harder every time he comes near.

My ex-boyfriend's father.

The nights are long and cold on top of this mountain. As the snow grows thicker and the tension builds between us, we're both inching closer to a line we shouldn't cross.

Each day, it grows harder to resist the man who looks at me with longing in his eyes.

It's tempting to forget about being the good girl for once.

No one would find out. Would they?

Chasing The Wild is an interconnected stand-alone, book 1 in the all-new Crimson Ridge series, and can be read separately. Intended for ages 18 and over.

Chasing the Wild knows exactly why readers are here and wastes no time delivering it. Elliott Rose serves an age-gap cowboy romance packed with forbidden tension, dirty talk, and enough heat to fog every mirror in Montana. Layla has spent her life being responsible, following the plan, and carrying more than she should. Then she ends up snowed in on a remote ranch with Colton Wilder. Colton is her ex-boyfriend’s older and brooding father. The setup is deliciously messy and the chemistry is immediate. This book runs on longing, temptation, and the thrill of crossing lines that should probably stay uncrossed. Let’s be honest, the plot is light. The family drama exists, but it often feels secondary to the nonstop spice. I was not mad about it. Sometimes a reader needs a romance built almost entirely on steaming up mirrors and physical attraction. This delivers. The dirty talk was elite. The voyeuristic moments and the sheer obsession from Colton all added to the fantasy. That said, a few elements pushed into cringe territory. The daddy talk did not work for me. Repeated reminders that Layla’s ex was nearby during certain scenes felt more gross than scandalous. Some pregnancy-related tension also felt unnecessary. The baby-trapping backstory used for drama was a misogynistic eye roll. What I appreciated most was Layla keeping sight of her own future. She does not abandon her dreams because an older wealthy man wants her. She still values education, career goals, and building a life on her own terms. That gave the romance a stronger feminist edge than I expected. The audiobook was a win. Gabriel Spires and Amy Hall kept me immersed and sold both the chemistry and emotional moments without pulling me out of the experience. Chasing the Wild may not be the ride for you if you came looking for deep plot twists and layered family drama. The emotional conflicts are present, but they rarely take center stage over the romance. Elliott Rose knows the real draw is the chemistry, forbidden setup, and fantasy of a rugged older cowboy who cannot keep his hands to himself. Sometimes that is more than enough. Saddle up if you want a long, steamy escape with sharp tension, plenty of heat, and a happy ending that sends you off smiling.

I DEVOURED this book! It was absolutely amazing. Elliott is a wonderful story teller! Her writing is so descriptive, thorough and the romance and spice she writes is top tier! Chasing the Wild was full of tension, fun banter, longing, and the moment where they finally give in…? SO GOOD. Even if you’re not a cowboy lover, this book will change your mind! I went through all of the emotions while reading this book..it made me happy, giddy, I swooned, I got upset, I cried more than a tear or two but in the end I was left completely satisfied.

You’ll love this book if you enjoy reading about Layla-a fiery redhead who isn’t afraid to go after what she wants (and gets!), and her ex’s dad Colton Wilder who’s a gruff & grumpy cowboy 17 years older than her. Their attraction to each other is undeniable but with Layla’s ex thinking she still belongs to him and Colton wanting to repair his relationship with his son, their timing seems to be off. Things change when Layla gets snowed in on top of the mountain with Daddy Colt and they’re forced to spend a *lot* of time together…Do yourself a favour and go read this book!!!

I was fortunate enough to beta read this book but I had to read it again when arcs went out, because it was just *that* good!!
