Capone (Season one: Delgato Family)

Erin didn't need any more complications in her life after a bloody tragedy in the family left her in charge of her baby brother--but then he showed up.

Erin Cooper has no idea what she's in for when Capone Delgato walks into the room with an air of mystery and danger. She has enough on her plate, caring for her younger brother in the wake of their parents' brutal deaths. But who could resist Capone when he looks so damn good?

From the moment he lays eyes on Erin, Capone knows he must have her. And what Capone wants, Capone gets. He's rough, yet gentle, with the power to make her feel things she's never felt before. And he's determined to break down her defenses. Sure enough, the more he pursues her, the more she aches to open up and give him everything.

But Capone comes with some heavy baggage, more than Erin's ready to carry. His baby mama still loves him and wants another child with him, his sister is married to Erin's ex . . . oh, and Capone's right in the middle of a deadly war that threatens to unravel all that Erin knows of her past.

Still, every time Capone says her name, Erin's heart swells with emotion and she desires him even more. Can she ignore all the red flags and allow him to take command of her heart?

For me this was a 3 ⭐️ series. ‌ Each story kept me caught up in the boiling over hood drama, cheating scandals, betrayals and ghetto love! They all ended with a cliffhanger that made you instantly start on the next book! ‌ So, why a 3 ⭐️ series? ‌ Book 1 introduces us to Capone and Erin’s backgrounds, family life and budding relationship. ‌ Book 2 picks up after a big cliffhanger & deeper into couple life, which was a bit boring. ‌ Book 3 was more action packed, and brings more of Capri’s drama, but very repetitive. ‌ They were good, but a bit of the exact same structure that is common in most urban fiction. The HNIC with endless wealth, luxury cars…sets his sights on the sweetest, most deserving woman to have his back. He immediately sweeps her off her feet, lavishes her with expensive gifts, moves her in & controls her whereabouts under the guise of love. ‌ Capone wasn’t the big dog that he thought he was. He and his family kept getting touched and put in danger. I hated how things escalated and innocent people had to be lured into a life of crime. A true boss would’ve stayed in the loop to be prepared for any risk of danger to his family. And as a man he should’ve kept the younger men in his family away from the life. I didn’t like how Capone treated Ella like trash. ‌ The one thing that I would’ve liked to have seen more of throughout the series were on the topics of alopecia and sickle cell. That was good. ‌ I used to read urban fiction all the time, so now it’s like reading the same story with different names. In this genre it’s very hard for me to find something fresh and exciting because the books I read in the 2000s pretty much had the game on lock and the new ones read more like replicas of the classics The Prada Plan, B-More Careful+. ‌ I fear Capadonna and Capri will be more of the same. This is a well loved series so definitely read it for yourself!! The narration was ok, I liked Winston James’ performance.

A solid read. Erin, the main character, can be a bit challenging at times, and the storyline leans toward the predictable. Still, it keeps you engaged and is one you’ll want to finish.
