Call It What You Want
New York Times bestselling author Brigid Kemmerer pens a new emotionally compelling story about two teens struggling in the space between right and wrong.
When his dad is caught embezzling funds from half the town, Rob goes from popular lacrosse player to social pariah. Even worse, his father's failed suicide attempt leaves Rob and his mother responsible for his care. Everyone thinks of Maegan as a typical overachiever, but she has a secret of her own after the pressure got to her last year. And when her sister comes home from college pregnant, keeping it from her parents might be more than she can handle. When Rob and Maegan are paired together for a calculus project, they're both reluctant to let anyone through the walls they've built. But when Maegan learns of Rob's plan to fix the damage caused by his father, it could ruin more than their fragile new friendship . . . In her compulsively readable storytelling, Brigid Kemmerer pens another captivating, heartfelt novel that asks the question: Is it okay to do something wrong for the right reasons?BUY THE BOOK

Brigid Kemmerer has quickly become an auto-read author for me, and if you haven't yet read one of her novels, this is an excellent place to start!
Call It What You Want is an emotional and intense read, from the very first page. Maegan and Rob are both complex characters, struggling with secrets and wanting to find their way. They quickly connect, and reading as they slowly learn to trust and open up was one of my favorite aspects of this story.
There are many different "issues" that Brigid tackles in this book. From cheating, pregnancy, teacher/student relations, to name a few, but I thought they were handled well. Do I wish there was less to focus on? Yes. But that's life. We can't select our issues and put them in a box with a bow and stow away for later. We must deal with them all, and live with our decisions. I appreciate that so much.
If you're looking for an intense, emotional read, look no further! Call It What You Want is an unputdownable contemporary novel that's a must add to your shelves!
