I understand this is supposed to be splatterpunk/extreme gore, but the narrative was written strictly for shock value. Granted, there is nothing inherently wrong with that, but it does take away from a story that had potential. Aside from the horrible grammatical errors and continuity issues (could have gone through some beta readers before release), the overall structure of the plot was awkward. Some of the extreme scenes that should have been present were told in flashback form or dialogue. We never "see" what happens; we are told they were done.

There are so many mini-twists toward the end. They are presented well, either. Is June in on the events? Is she a victim? Is she part of the plans? Is she taken by surprise? It's a whirlwind of those same questions until the very last word of the story. Even reading the blurb for the second book, I'm still not sure what June's purpose is. I'm left more confused than entertained.
