Breaking Dawn (The Twilight Saga, Book 4)

In the explosive finale to the epic romantic saga, Bella has one final choice to make. Should she stay mortal and strengthen her connection to the werewolves, or leave it all behind to become a vampire?
When you loved the one who was killing you, it left you no options. How could you run, how could you fight, when doing so would hurt that beloved one? If your life was all you had to give, how could you not give it? If it was someone you truly loved?
To be irrevocably in love with a vampire is both fantasy and nightmare woven into a dangerously heightened reality for Bella Swan. Pulled in one direction by her intense passion for Edward Cullen, and in another by her profound connection to werewolf Jacob Black, a tumultuous year of temptation, loss, and strife have led her to the ultimate turning point. Her imminent choice to either join the dark but seductive world of immortals or to pursue a fully human life has become the thread from which the fates of two tribes hangs.
This astonishing, breathlessly anticipated conclusion to the Twilight Saga illuminates the secrets and mysteries of this spellbinding romantic epic.
It's here! #1 bestselling author Stephenie Meyer makes a triumphant return to the world of Twilight with the highly anticipated companion, Midnight Sun: the iconic love story of Bella and Edward told from the vampire's point of view.
People do not want to just read Meyer's books; they want to climb inside them and live there. -- Time

Again- loved it- bella & Edward marry and have a baby. Half human, half vampire- Jacob "imprints" (kinda weird) on her meaning he will do anything to assure she's happy. They come up against the Volturi to explain the child- they persevere in the end (of course)- happy ending but is this the last of Bella, Edward, & Jacob?

It has been interesting reading this series again and looking at it from an older perspective (started the series in 4th grade and finished it in 5th). I thought that this was sooo romantic and just perfectly okay. Now I know for a fact that there were some moments where every character needed a therapist. There were a lot of funny scenes that I absolutely loved. For example, when Bella kicks Jacob’s butt. LOL!

Of course there are some things that just didn’t sit well with me:

#1: Bella gets married at 18! I’ve already stated how much of a bad idea this is in my review of Eclipse. Im not going to beat a dead horse.

#2: Bella decides to let her baby vampire kill her. I understand that if a baby is in danger the mother will sacrifice herself. However this is a VAMPIRE, you NEED to kill it.

#3: Bella is still putting Jacob through hell. You are married woman, don’t give this poor boy mixed signals!! It’s not cool and it’s just wrong.

#4: I understand that Bella has cravings but the fact that she thinks blood suddenly smells good, even though throughout the series, it makes her squeamish. It’s just wrong and contradicts a part of her character.

#5: Bella’s baby name if the baby is a boy. She decides on EJ (Edward Jacob). That is just so wrong! Its like if you were to name your baby after your ex. How was Edward okay with that!! Again she is also putting Jacob through hell but sure why not.

#6: Jacob freakin imprints on an infant! I’m sorry but does anyone else think this is CREEPY? Renesmee is a baby and Jacob has a crush on her?! I understand that he is willing to wait until she is older but that is still messed up.

#7: The movies are atrocious, and they just butchered the series completely. I don’t know who it was that thought it was a great idea for Kristen Stewart to play Bella; but they were sorely mistaken on that one. I can’t watch anything with Robert Pattinson or Kristen Stewart without cringing.

Overall pretty good series but gotta say that Crave by Tracy Wolff is sooo much better!

8/16/20 reread Soooo I still love Breaking Dawn because, well, I'm a true fan, but after my latest reread, it's definitely the book out of the series that is hardest to accept all the supernatural passes. Things seem to conveniently work out for the Cullens and friends. And there are some plot holes that are harder to ignore. BUT, it has the wedding and one of the best endings, so it's forgiven.

(2012 reread) I must admit I enjoyed this reread more after having seen the final film. The film brought out characters I had skimmed over while reading, such as Garrett. The names finally had more defined faces to go along with them. And I was thrilled that the ending (Bella letting Edward read her mind) was captured so perfectly in the film. So, it's with sadness that I finish my latest reread of the Twilight Saga. With no more movies coming out I'm not sure when I'll reread them again. But as with any great series, it's nice to know they are there waiting on the shelf when I want to visit them again.
