Bluebird Gold

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Devney Perry comes a gripping romance set in 1983 where a woman's search for the truth about her father's death entangles her with the small-town sheriff and a legend of lost Montana gold.

Living in Dalton, Montana, was not what I had planned for this winter. But after my father's sudden death, I uprooted my life to move into his tiny lakeside cabin and settle his estate. My friends tell me to sell his place and move on. But this winter is my chance to say goodbye. To remember a man who'd loved tales of Montana lore.

Taking a temporary teaching job seemed like the perfect way to keep myself busy on lonely days. Cleaning out the cabin should have been simple. Except the more I learn about my father's life, the more questions I have about his death.

The last thing I need is a crush on Sheriff Cosi Raynes. Not only is his son my student, but his life is rooted in Montana, while mine is headed...anywhere else.

Yet as I uncover a trail of strange clues Dad left behind about a lost legend of Montana gold, staying away from Cosi is not an option. Neither is denying the attraction between us. And my winter of healing becomes a race for answers.

I came to Montana to bury the past. Now I'm falling for the man who might just be my future. And either I'll solve this mystery, or the person in Dalton determined to hide the truth will make sure I die trying.

Ooh this 1980s small town Montana based romantic suspense was gold! Ilsa has finally made her way to settle her father’s affairs after his death. While there a masked prowler keeps popping up in her window, getting more and more violent. Enter the local sheriff Cosi. This brooding hunk of a sheriff is stern and take charge. He’s the single father of a 14 year old son who is going thru those trying teen years. From the time he enters the scene he is sole purpose is keeping Ilsa safe. The chemistry between Ilsa and Cosi is instant and undeniable. When they finally clashed its electrical fuse ignited through each page. I love that it was a slow burn. This allows me to get familiar with the characters, their back stories, their burdens. Couple that with the mystery of who is terrorizing Ilsa’s home and.. the mystery of rumored gold… the cold Montana backdrop…I was entranced! I do wish more time was spent developing Ilsa and Cosi’s connection, they went from attraction to sex to a relationship with not much of anything else in between. The 80s nostalgia creeped in for me whenever Ilsa took a phone call and mentioned the stretch of the phone line. Haha I thought about how we could only go so far with those landline phones 📞 The narration was sizzling! I loved Samantha Brenmoor’s huskiness and fluid flow of reading; I loved the hunkiness and sex appeal and cocky arrogance dripping from Connor Crais’ tone even when he wasn’t trying. They definitely kept me seated with their awesome performance! I lucked up and was able to get the ebook and free audiobook on kindle unlimited so definitely download a copy and check this story out.
