Good series! It is a bit difficult to read sometimes, but once you get into it the story is very interesting.
So having read the author's [a:Melissa de la Cruz|21911|Melissa de la Cruz|https:images.gr-assets.com/authors/1521600969p2/21911.jpg] series, The Witches of East End, and absolutely loving it, I decided to give this book a chance. I'm so glad that I did. Set in New York, Blue Bloods is a group of insanely rich vampires.
Schuyler is the main protagonist and she is a very likable character and is well written. The lifestyles of the spoiled rich kids getting away with underage smoking and drinking and clubbing aside, I loved the fantasy aspect of the story. Most of the characters aren't very captivating or engaging but I have to remember this is YA LOL, but the plot makes the book enjoyable.
The lore behind the vampires is fascinating and I like the twist of how the vampires aren't "undead" they were fallen angels and their life gets recycled after their "death" and a drop of their blood contains all their memories from previous lives and is used to make a new Blue Blood.
I rather enjoyed some of the factual parts of history in the book such as the vampire's trip to the new world by way of the Mayflower and the inclusion of one of the most fascinating mysteries in the history of the Lost Colony of Roanoke which is a creative way to imagine the disappearance of the colony and gives a whole new meaning to the word "Croatan."
I was truly absorbed in the story and the hint of dark, and unknown mystery surrounding the history of the Blue Bloods and the threat that unravels to put their existence in jeopardy. This unknown mystery is what will keep me reading the series.
