Bloom

A sweet sapphic romance takes a deadly dark turn in this sharp-as-a-knife novella from the New York Times bestselling author.
Rosemary meets Ash at the farmers’ market. Ash—precise, pretty, and practically perfect—sells bars of soap in delicate pastel colors, sprinkle-spackled cupcakes stacked on scalloped stands, beeswax candles, jelly jars of honey, and glossy green plants. But as her obsession with Ash consumes her, she may find she’s not the one doing the devouring…

I want to say that I find Ro's willingness to overlook the red flags in Ash and her assuming because she was a woman and not a man felt sexist. Anyone one can have toxic and dangerous traits. The ending made sense because Ro was infatuated from the very beginning and wanted to lean into her obsession over Ash. She wanted to be wanted by her. Ash being a sociopath in the end was also clear to pick up but maybe also her behavior came from the abuse she suffered from her grandmother as a child. Bloom was utterly terrifying addictive and I feel I would enjoy reading other books by this author.
Deliciously twisted!
A very slow, but necessary start, this book plays with images both gorgeous and gruesome. Once it has your attention, it grips and won’t let go.

Rosemary may know big words, but she's actually pretty dumb.
