I am normally not a big fan of short story collections, but this one worked better for me because all of the stories are taking place during the same event and there are a lot of connections between the characters in each story. There was also one story that we would keep coming back to. I wished there were more characters that weren't high school students dealing with teenage romances, but then I remembered this is YA and that's the intended audience. There was only one story I didn't really care for, but otherwise I thought the writing was solid. I listened to this on audiobook and the narrators also did a great job, though I preferred some over others.

I appreciate the the points of views of all storytellers in this book. However, although I finished it, it's not my cup of tea.

You know the Queens of writing were on it. I love all of their writing styles. For me? Again I say for ME it just. I don't know there was something about it that just didn't engage me. I started reading it in November. I know! But in my defense. I got super busy with work and then the plague struck and physical books were just out for me. But i came back to it. Fortunately, I'm trying out Scribd right now and its a godsend. Seriously reading withdrawl no more. ANYWAY! This book is kinda for people who like romantical things she is you don't it's a good palate cleanser if you just read something really heavy. Like maybe I should have read it after I read Mamie's book. (Lord I'm not ready!) But it's definitely not a bad book by any means. It's a bunch of like... I wanna say short stories but everyone is connected in the end or in the same verse. The blackout in the city is the plot, everyone's all over the city trapped with their whatever crushes and the problem is the blackout bringing everyone together. The thing about short stories is I feel like just as you start to get in things are over so its very hard to get in vested. Each chapter or story made me just want to know more about the characters and why they're in the situations that they're in and you really just don't get that and maybe but I don't think you'll ever get more and for me. Im not into it. But as always by the queens everything was well written there's something in here for every type of relationship. I probably would have enjoyed it more if I had timed it right. I'll try again one day but to-day issa three for me.
