Monday's Not Coming: A Psychological Thriller by the Author of Allegedly

"Jackson’s characters and their heart-wrenching story linger long after the final page, urging readers to advocate for those who are disenfranchised and forgotten by society and the system." (Publishers Weekly, "An Anti-Racist Children's and YA Reading List")

From the critically acclaimed author of Allegedly, Tiffany D. Jackson, comes a gripping novel about the mystery of one teenage girl’s disappearance and the traumatic effects of the truth.

Monday Charles is missing, and only Claudia seems to notice. Claudia and Monday have always been inseparable—more sisters than friends. So when Monday doesn’t turn up for the first day of school, Claudia’s worried.

When she doesn’t show for the second day, or second week, Claudia knows that something is wrong. Monday wouldn’t just leave her to endure tests and bullies alone. Not after last year’s rumors and not with her grades on the line. Now Claudia needs her best—and only—friend more than ever. But Monday’s mother refuses to give Claudia a straight answer, and Monday’s sister April is even less help.

As Claudia digs deeper into her friend’s disappearance, she discovers that no one seems to remember the last time they saw Monday. How can a teenage girl just vanish without anyone noticing that she’s gone?

A triggering read, but I appreciated the author shedding light on how black women and children go missing and no one bats an eye until it's too late.

HOLY MOLY!!! What a rollercoaster of emotions and mystery! Claudia and Monday are best friends, inseparable. When the new school year starts, Monday doesn't show up. Many people are saying that she is living with a different relative or being homeschooled but things just don't add up. So Claudia takes it into her own hands to learn the truth! This book started out a bit slow but once it got going, it was full speed and you won't want to put the book down. This book also goes back and forth between past and present but surprisingly that didn't confuse me as much as I thought it would. This book really shows just how powerful a friendship can be. Claudia isn't going to just give up without an answer, no matter what the answer is. I was definitely shocked by the ending but I definitely liked how the character development and the element of mystery kept you going to the very end. It is hard to say that I would recommend this book because of its intensity but if anyone is willing to take the chance, I don't think they will be disappointed. At first I was disgusted by the way no one seemed to care that Monday was missing. But then to find out that so many different people tried to help her and save her made my heart break. What the hell is wrong with that mother?!?! Beating your children and shoving them into a freezer? How did no one figure out she was crazy? Oh that's right because the police and social services never did a full investigation that would have saved these beautiful souls. This book really brings attention to neglect and child abuse and a system that is unfortunately broken at times. If you think that something is going on, you have to keep working at it or lives could be lost

the ending reminded me of “we were liars” by e. lockhart, but the story telling had be spilling a few tears here and there. claudia’s struggle the moment she realized Monday was missing and how her parents and everyone else seemed to not have cared. Even though late, the pain of being unheard is painful. The timeline took some getting used to, but now I know why the story telling started from the ending. It’s now Monday would’ve wanted it
