I enjoyed the book overall, despite some character flaws and a couple of far fetched pieces. I haven’t worked for CPS in Australia, but a police officer doesn’t just place kids with whomever they want and especially not a relative. Also, the two meth heads showing up with a very young child who’s face is all over the news as missing and endangered would've made it to the commune sometime within 24 years. The tumultuous relationship between Iris and Lily made them believable, but Iris withheld so much important information that would’ve never been overlooked in the real world. Elsa’s story is completely devastating. I’m glad her daughters learned the truth about her past and her tragic demise. Despite all of this, I still give the book 5 stars because I enjoyed the storytelling. Book #75 in 2023

A gripping story that keeps you hooked from beginning to end. The author's descriptive style brings scenes to life, and the characters feel real and relatable. The book blends mystery and emotion perfectly, making it hard to put down. If you enjoy engaging stories with depth, this is a must-read.
