I thought this book had very funny moments from the very beginning, so I had high hopes for it. However, what turned me off shortly after starting reading this book was the misogyny and the name calling. No woman in their right mind wants to read that: itâs not entertaining, itâs insulting.
I normally donât rate books lower than a 3 star, but those with sexism, racism, fat phobia, homophobia, etc get rated a 1 star by me.

Edited 2023 for my re-read: Holy shit, I don't know what I was thinking when I originally wrote this review. I completely disagree with myself about the book primarily being about Shelley and not Beau. That's not the case at all. This was a wonderful story about working on yourself and letting yourself rely on others to help support you, while also fixing their own issues. I don't know if it's my personal growth or the fact that I've gone through more mental health struggles, but this re-read changed me from a 4 star to a 5 star. I loved it way more than I did in 2018, and I'm so glad that I did read this book again.
While I love anything to do with the Winston brothers, this was my least favorite book of the series so far. It had more to do with Shelly than with Beau. And while I love Shelly and I loved her growth as a character, I really feel like it was all about her and a little about Beau.
Now, that being said, I LOVED seeing Shelly overcome her struggles and be more accepting of herself and, in turn, be more accepted by her family and the Winston's.
I also enjoyed how this book takes place during Cletus' book, so then we get to see the same events but through a different lens. Wonderfully written and enjoyable, just not my favorite.
