Bared to You (A Crossfire Novel)
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Sylvia Day comes the first novel in the Crossfire series--a provocative masterstroke of abandon and obsession that redefined the meaning of desire, and became a global phenomenon.
Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness...
He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I'd never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily... Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other's most private wounds...and desires. The bonds of his love transformed me, even as I prayed that the torment of our pasts didn't tear us apart...

What the fuck? I gotta pull my shit together on what happened here. I have so many question marks in this book. Literal whiplash how things unfolded between them. "Met a stranger, thought he was hot, so I fucked him"- this is obviously how it starts. But there was hardly any build up. There were all of these professed feelings, but I literally had no idea where they were coming from??

"Are you sleeping with anyone?"
The question was asked so casually it took a second to process what he'd said.
I inhaled sharply. "Why is that any business of yours?"
He looked at me and I saw what I´d seen the first time we'd met- tremendous power and steely control. Both of which had me taking an involuntary step back. Again. At least I didn't fall this time; I was making progress.
"Because I want to fuck you, Eva. I need to know what's standing in my way, if anything."

The writing was pretty good though. Nothing too cringy for me, especially when it comes to erotica mature adult books. It's just the way things unfold that I have to laugh at. The pace is TO FAST. I'm talking everything unfolds in like two weeks or something!! Like girlfriend after one week? Sir?! Maám?! All of a sudden sooooo into each other after meeting each other twice? where is the build up? I NEED THE TENSION!!
But having that said, it's a fun read if you go into it with low standards, just looking for basic smutty and dark characters. They have sex almost evert other page. Bared to you is closely compared to 50 shades of grey. I don't know if it's good or bad... To me, the story felt a little well used.
Bared to you is suspenseful, romantic, sexy and dangerous. It dose have everything I want in I book, even if it doesn't sound that way when I write about it. I would like to think that the story grows on me, when I read the other books in the series. I love the characters! Both the main characters, and the side characters. It's what gives the book life and volum!
The story is told from the perspective of Eva Hammel, a 24 year old girl who comes from money, but wants to make it on her own in the world. She chooses to start at the bottom and work her way to the top, and gets a job in an advertising agency where she meets the gay who owns the company she works for (and pretty much everything in NYC), Gideon Cross.
Full blown alpha male Gideon Cross is a tortured billionaire. He is arrogant, dominating, bossy and controlling. Lets not forget; POSSESSIVENESS and STALKER SENDENCIES. Two of the worst possible qualities a significant other can possess. It's okey to be possessive and let other know that you are in a relationship with you, but gahh!!! He tok things too far at times and left me cringing. On top of that, he was going full- on stalker... Sometimes it came off as protective and done out of good intentions. Other times I was just screaming at the book begging Eva to run the other way!! But if I ignore that part, I see a man trying his absolute best to be everything his girl needs him to be!! <3

"I am an animal whit you, I want to mark you. I want to prosess you so completely there's no separation between us."- Gideon Cross

Gideon wants Eva and nothing will stand in his way. And so a cat- mouse play begins... who will catch who? Eva knows that Gideon is bad news, but can't seem to stay away. She has seen into his dark soul. She recognizes it, because it's a mirror of her own. To say that their love is easy would be a big, fat, lie. It's messy and fucked up, with a million reasons why it shouldn't work between them!

Wow...just, wow! I have never read a romance novel and this was quite the experience. Eva is my hero(ine). Gutsy and and yet not. Gideon is just plain hot. I’ve never read anything like it so I’m not sure how it compares to other novels like Fifty Shades of Grey. I did enjoy it though and I think I may even read a few more in the series. If you’re looking for a sexy poolside/beach read, the Crossfire series might just be what you’re looking for. I read the Kindle version so I have no idea what the cover looks like, but I’m guessing it’d turn heads in an airport. I would recommend this to both women and men, single or coupled, it’s a fun, quick read.
