All the Missing Pieces

An all new, small-town romantic suspense from USA Today bestselling author Catherine Cowles.

Sometimes the last thing you expect is exactly what you need, the final missing piece. And sometimes it comes in the form of a towering, broody sheriff, determined to get in your way at every step.

Ridley Sawyer knows what it's like to miss someone, to feel like a piece of her vanished--because it happened to her the night her twin sister disappeared.

Now, Ridley channels that loss into hope, traveling the country covering cold cases for her true crime podcast. She might not have found justice for her sister but that doesn't stop her from finding it for others.

Until Sheriff Colter Brooks gets in her way.

Colt knows what it's like to have reporters descend on his town in the wake of a tragedy, and he's not about to let a fiery podcaster stir up trouble. It doesn't matter that her haunting blue eyes tell him there's more to Ridley's story or that he can't stop imagining what it would be like to touch her.

But when Ridley's cold case turns hot and she's thrust into the crosshairs, Colt has no choice but to step in. Suddenly, Ridley's living at his house, drinking his whiskey, and stealing his dog's affections. But she's also proving that she's so much more than his first impression.

And as they get closer to the truth, the game they've been playing might just turn deadly...

What happens when a true crime podcaster refuses to let a cold case stay cold? Catherine Cowles answers that in All the Missing Pieces. This is a romance wrapped in grief, obsession, and just enough danger to keep you flipping pages. Ridley shows up with a mic and a mission to find answers about her sister’s murder. Colter, the town’s sheriff, would rather she pack up and leave before she rocks the boat. Their rivelry starts early and never really lets up. The romance and serial killer plot work so well together. Ridley’s podcast angle adds a fresh layer once it becomes the very thing that puts her in the crosshairs. Watching her piece things together while everyone else lags behind creates that addictive just one more chapter energy. The story is so hard to walk away from. The romance delivers exactly what you want. You get longing, protectiveness, and a broody sheriff who cannot help himself. There is slow burn tension that builds with every look, argument, and moment they try and fail to stay professional. When Colter and Ridley finally give in, the payoff feels worth the wait. The intimacy leans sensual with a lot of buildup and fades out at the right moment. I immersion read this with the audiobook. I have thoughts. Andi Arndt and Sebastian York sound great when they stick to their characters. The switch to reading by chapter POV instead of character threw me off more than once. Please have your narrators stick with voicing their characters no matter the POV of the chapter. This runs longer than most romances, but it earns it because of the thriller elements. Each reveal pushes the story forward. The danger jumps off the page once Ridley gets too close to the truth. The final stretch delivers on the suspense even if some readers may piece together the twist a bit early. All the Missing Pieces is romance for readers who want more than just the relationship. It offers danger, obsession, and a heroine who refuses to let the past stay buried. The romance feels like a reward at the end of a hard journey. I had a great time with this romance twist on the thriller genre.

Excellent book! I was addicted from the first page. I really enjoyed the pacing, it was never slow or got too into the weeds. Every character was special and the relationship between Ridley and Colt was so entertaining!
