Loved this book. The ending is probably the best ending I can remember for a book. Gives a good description of live in the Mississippi River back in those days. Loved Huck and Jim and their adventures. One of my all time favorites. Great read.

I have to say I agree with the fact they do not write great novels anymore. Putting aside the racism and derogatory slurs (which was accurate use back in this time frame but very much aged poorly to hear in today's time), the plot, the characters, and the development had a well written flow. The only reason why I read his slowly was my personal struggle to deal with the language and southern slang. I really enjoyed this was written in first person narration.

I was very bored reading this. Some people love Huckleberry Finn, some absolutely hate it, but I really do think I'm just in the middle. The beginning was really interesting (around chapters 1-20), but I mentally checked out when the King and Duke arrived. They were so unbelievably boring and unlikeable. It starts getting interesting again when we focus on Jim; Jim's really the only interesting character, and the further the book gets from him, the less enjoyable it is. Overall, I didn't mind this book, but unlike the genuinely amazing classics I've read for my classes in the past such as The Scarlet Letter, A Tale of Two Cities, and All Quiet on the Western Front (all three of which are way better, btw), I definitely wouldn't read it if I didn't have to for school. An objective 3/5.
