Across the Ages: An Inspirational Historical Time Travel Romance of Pirates and Prohibition (Timeless)

One woman. Two separate lifetimes. A life-altering decision that could reshape her destiny.
Caroline holds a deep secret. Living in 1727 and 1927 simultaneously, each night she goes to sleep in one life and wakes up in the other. In search of answers to her unique existence, Caroline stumbles upon a letter from her mother hinting at her own experiences as a time-crosser, sending Caroline on a daring quest to uncover the truth. In 1727, Caroline disguises herself as a cabin boy and joins a ship sailing for the Bahamas, her mother's last known location, where she crosses paths with a ruthless but handsome pirate and is caught in a web of secrets, deception, and unexpected alliances.
In 1927 St. Paul, Minnesota, Caroline grapples with her other life as the daughter of a renowned preacher. Her two older brothers have fallen prey to the corruption rampant during Prohibition, and Caroline struggles to keep their involvement hidden to save her father's career. As her search for answers about her time-crossing leads her to the dangerous yet exciting world of speakeasies, Caroline enlists the help of a childhood friend who is now a police officer. But with her family's future at risk and their loyalties tested, Caroline faces a life-altering decision that could reshape her destiny.

Across the Ages
Author: Gabrielle Meyer
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
✨Reading Mood: Adventurous, emotional, hope-filled, immersive, beautifully nostalgic
My Review:
Gabrielle Meyer has done it again, my friends. An absolutely beautiful addition to the Timeless series that ties everything we’ve read up until now together so seamlessly and perfectly. I truly don’t know how these books keep getting better and better, but they do. I’m continually in awe of Meyer’s ability to craft such unforgettable stories with characters that completely steal my heart.
In Across the Ages, Caroline time-slips between 1727 and 1927 simultaneously, each night going to sleep in one life and waking up in the other.
But unlike the other time-crossers we’ve met throughout the series, Caroline has no understanding of her condition, no guidance, and no idea why this is happening to her. She views it as a curse rather than a gift, and watching her slowly unravel the truth behind her existence made this story especially compelling.
When Caroline discovers a letter from her mother hinting at her own experience as a time-crosser, she’s sent on an unforgettable journey to uncover the truth about herself, her family, and the deeper purpose behind it all.
What I loved most about this book was how beautifully everything connected back to the larger Timeless world. Longtime readers of the series will appreciate how many threads Meyer ties together in ways that feel intentional, meaningful, and incredibly satisfying. Nothing felt rushed or forced. Every revelation unfolded so naturally while still carrying emotional weight.
And somehow, this book even includes pirates… which only made me love it more. Add in a particularly swoon-worthy romance that genuinely took my breath away, and I was completely invested from beginning to end.
The historical settings were richly immersive, and the themes of identity, faith, sacrifice, family, and redemption were woven throughout so beautifully. There were multiple moments that genuinely moved me, and by the end, I was left emotional in the very best way.
This series has become something truly special to me, and Across the Ages may honestly be one of my favorite installments yet.
If you love dual timelines, richly layered historical fiction, faith-filled themes, unforgettable romance, and stories that leave your heart full, the Timeless series is absolutely worth picking up. 🫶
