Overall, this book is worth the read to get a sense of history from a non-nationalist perspective. A bit dry at times, eye-opening at other times. I would caution that the author takes a large amount of liberty with divulging his personal hard-left opinion, especially towards the end of the book ( often pushing what some might consider "socialist ideals" onto the reader). My issue with the book ( mainly the final chapters) is that the author makes certain statements, which he presents as factual and morally correct, without even considering the painful economic implications that would occur if his proposals were to be carried out.

The book is worth reading as a source of an alternative historical perspective. However, be weary of incoming socialist propaganda.

One of the best comprehensive histories of the United States ever written. From describing the Pequot Massacres to the war crimes inherent in the war with Afghanistan, Howard Zinn informs and titilates the reader. There are some issues, such as his anti-communism being brought up throughout the book, almost as a weak shield against criticism (I definitely wouldn't recommend it as useful on Soviet history), but those downsides are outweighed by the general importance of Zinn's writing. Every American should read this book.
