I went into this series with reasonable expectations I thought. That being said, I’m a reader that virtually never leaves a series I’ve started unfinished but I have zero desire to continue after this book. I’m so annoyed at the potential this author created but let completely go untapped.

First and foremost, the story is painfully slow moving because we have one page of story in between 8 pages of sex scenes. Now look, I’m no prude. I love some good smexy scenes. But these are all good exactly the same. There was never any deviation in their statements to each other, their actions, their passion and love for each other was never reflected in the painfully love romance bits. In fact I felt the passion got less in this book than what they had when it was forbidden in book 1. Super disappointing.

Secondly, all of these books are truly just 1 book. They are ridiculously short and overstuffed with smut filler forcing the reader to purchase 4. Well 3 in my case because I will not be continuing.

Opportunities this story could have really gotten interesting but were totally missed in my opinion:
- Conflict with Adara and Thalia because obviously Thalia has had conflicting feelings for Evren as shown by her physical affection for him, her willingness to give him her blood when he was hurt, her unwillingness to go further with Soren for so long.
- Grow Adara as a strong FMC. Instead despite the fact even with his own power and hers the forest creatures told him she was their queen and could save herself because she held the power, he never shares this with Adara and he lets her sleep in while he holds meetings without her, treats her like her only real value is in his bedroom. Pathetic. Why does Adara never push back?! She started the entire book being rebellious and strong. Attached to her thigh dagger. By this book she begs for sex and seems content to just prance around in pretty dresses waiting for Evren to take her again.
- Sexual tension between Gavril and Adara. This could have been a great little inner conflict dark romance spin off while she was his captive. She mentions being intrigued by him, that he was attractive. But then the story just drops there and for some unknown reason Gavril never touches her while he has her. lol It is ridiculous and for no reason. It felt rushed and unfulfilled.

Lastly, my BIGGEST pet peeve is that a million times throughout the book and really series Evren says he will never let anyone hurt her. He will always protect her. He then proceeds to literally NEVER do that. He’s too busy having sex with her instead of strategizing, planning, guarding, nothing. His actions make him seem like a spoiled princeling with no self control and an over inflated ego.

OMG Great ending! This was an amazing series and so easy to read when you don't want to work for your book.

“I have searched for you through a thousand lifetimes, princess, and I will search for you through a thousand more.”

Ahhhhh! This was amazing. Steamy, sensual, and exciting. This world and these characters have my heart. Adara is a baddie and I literally cling to Evren’s every word. The plot twist that this book gave right at the start was crazy, and the whole story flowed so well. Received an ARC in return for honest review. Grab you a copy on March 23rd.

Repetitive smut with very little plot. Disappointing because the first book was a good time.
