My ratings aren’t balanced across every book I read. they’re based on my expectations, going in and more importantly how the book made me feel while reading it. I don’t tend to focus heavily on technical detail, details of grammar, a perfectly structured plotting. For me, it’s about the reading experience, emotional engagement, and whether I actually enjoyed my time with the story. With that in mind, this book might be a two or three star read for someone else, but for the reasons below, it earned four stars from me. If I finish a book and enjoy the experience, it’s automatically at least a three and this one earned four stars purely because it hit one of my biggest weaknesses: enemies to lovers. That throat gets me every single time, so I can’t even pretend to be unbiased here. The romance was easily the strongest part of the book, and the main reason I stayed invested. The plot overall was fairly predictable, but honestly, I wasn’t mad about it. Sometimes an easy, familiar story is exactly what you want – especially as a pallet cleanser, between heavier, more complex fantasy reads. That said, the ending left me on a cliff, which I’m still a little annoyed about. I haven’t checked yet to see how many books are in series, but I probably should, because despite its flaws, I’m curious enough to keep going. All in all, this was an enjoyable fantasy romance. I did exactly what I expected it to do and sometimes that’s more than enough.

This is your typical spicy, romantsy story that has become popular these days. Love triangle, enemies-to-lovers, miscommunication- feel like it has all the tropes almost. Plus Fae and Vampyres so what's not to like?
