A Cosmic Kind of Love

One of Amazon's Best Romances of October!

Space is the last thing an event planner and an astronaut need in this charming new romantic comedy from New York Times bestselling author Samantha Young.

When event planner Hallie Goodman receives party-inspiration material from the bride of her latest wedding project, the last thing she expects to find is a collection of digital videos from Darcy’s ex-boyfriend. Hallie knows it’s wrong to keep watching these personal videos, but this guy is cute, funny, and an astronaut on the International Space Station to boot. She’s only human. And it’s not long until she starts sending e-mails and video diaries to his discontinued NASA address. Since they’re bouncing back, there’s no way anyone will ever be able to see them...right?

Christopher Ortiz is readjusting to life on earth and being constantly in the shadow of his deceased older brother. When a friend from NASA’s IT department forwards him the e-mails and video messages Hallie has sent, he can’t help but notice how much her sense of humor and pink hair make his heart race.

Separated by screens, Hallie and Chris are falling in love with each other, one transmission at a time. But can they make their star-crossed romance work when they each learn the other’s baggage?

As per usual Samantha Young so wonderfully has swooned me into a wonderful mood. A Cosmic Kind of Love has such a unique premise, I was instantly hooked on what would happen.
Wedding planner falls for bride client's ex? Stumbles on old messages and becomes super intriuged by him? Yes please! The most subtle of forbidden flair kept me so invested through out.
The steam is always great when Samantha writes her books, this was no exception. I also love that she had a Latinx character in the book. I was not able to verify if she had sensitivity readers to ensure she was writing responsibly, but I would think she did.

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I was going to. I loved how Chris Ortiz valued Hallie as a person and saw how hard working she was. I liked watching both of them building the other person up so that they were both able to start getting out of their parents shadows and live life for themselves.

The family drama didn't bother me, but I did feel like the author didn't really tie up the loose ends. I really really hoped that the author wasn't going to go the route of stereotypical evil ex- trying to get back with the MC, but that was not the case. That did bum me out. It would have been a nice breathe of fresh air for Darcy to have just been a purely platonic ex who also was trying to come into her own. That would have been a nice standalone, but in the same universe book. However, due to the way things ended that is absolutely not going to happen. Oh well.
