Choosing a new book to read together is one of the joys of book club, but also one of the biggest challenges.
Some clubs choose democratically, some by fiat, but either way someone has to recommend a book. And with so many books out there, it can feel like a daunting task.
That's where Bookclubs comes in. As your friendly everything-book-club app, we're here to help out with recommendations tailored specifically to your club.
That's right, Bookclubber Premium clubs now get a dedicated "Book Recommendations for Our Club" section. The recommendations are based on your club's own reading history: books your club members rated highly get more weight, books that landed with a thud are filtered out, and your want-to-read shelf fills in any gaps. The result is a list that reflects what your specific group enjoys.
What Your Recommendations Look Like
The recommendations are updated whenever your club adds new books. Newer clubs without much reading history yet can still get recommendations drawn from their want-to-read shelf while the read list builds up.

For any of your recommendations, you can:
- Thumbs-up if you like the book. It will automatically be added to your club's "Books We Want to Read" shelf with a note that it came from your club's personalized recommendations. Available now on app, coming soon on web.
- Thumbs-down on books that don't fit your club's vibe. Your feedback improves your recommendations.
- Add to your existing bookshelves (Want to Read, Read or Currently Reading). If you've already read a recommended book, add it to your club bookshelf.
- Add to a meeting or poll. Admins can add a recommended book directly to an upcoming meeting or spin up a poll, right from the Recommendations screen. No tab-switching needed. Available now on app, coming soon on web.
How to Find It
On mobile, open your club and go to the About tab, then tap "Our Recommendations." On the web, head to your club page and look for the "Our Recommendations" section on the club navigation bar. Club book recommendations are a Bookclubber Premium feature available on both iOS and Android and the Bookclubs website.
Head to your club's Recommendations section and see what your collective reading history has to say. 📚
