The holiday season is coming up, and here at Bookclubs we're gearing up for Book Clubs-giving and festive end of the year gatherings.
In preparation, we've updated our potluck function, moving potluck signups from the polls page to the meetings page where they'll be more readily seen when your members RSVP to your meeting. We've also added the ability to share the number of slots you want to see per potluck category.
Let's take a tour through how it works and get your club going with a tasty get-together!
Add a potluck signup to your book club meeting invite
When you are creating a new meeting, check the box to "Add potluck signup." You'll find this option right above the "Notes" section.
Once you've checked the box, you'll see a new set of inputs open up to "Enter potluck category" and enter the number of "Slots." Both of these inputs are optional.
You can choose to organize your potluck signup by category (for example, appetizers, mains, sides, drinks and desserts) or leave it completely open. You can also choose to limit the number of people that can sign up for each category (for example, 3 slots for dessert). Click the "Add" button after each category to open the input box for the next category.
When you're done, click on the "Create Meeting" button as usual to schedule your meeting.
Editing your meeting's potluck signup: If you want to edit any part of your potluck signup after the fact, you can click the "Edit" button on the meeting you set up. You can uncheck the "Add potluck signup" box to remove the signup completely, or you can edit or remove potluck categories by clicking on the pencil icon or the "Remove" button respectively. Clicking the pencil icon will also allow you to edit the number of slots if you had previously set one. You'll also see the option to add additional categories. Don't forget to "Save Edits" to your meeting when you're done!
RSVP to a meeting invite and add your potluck contribution
If you are invited to a book club meeting with a potluck signup, you can share what you're planning on bringing by entering it in the text field that says "Enter dish name (optional)." Click on the "Sign up" button to add yourself to the potluck list.
If the organizer of your meeting has specified how many slots there are for each potluck category, you'll see how many of them have already been filled below each category name. You can also click on the down carat to expand the box and see what other people have signed up to bring already.
Editing your potluck signup response: If you need to change your signup, just click on the pencil icon to edit it, or the trash can icon to delete it.
