This is not a club for books wherein the mystery is determining who stole the recipe for the prize winning strawberry pie, not a club where viscera is more abundant than banter, not for those who need to identify with people whose character has been sculpted by the soul gnawing raptors of life, not a site for those who believe a sentence is vapid without like, whatever, and/or f*** , used in their various forms as adverbs, nouns, pronouns, adjectives and conjunctions. This is a site where mystery is the boat that floats on the storyline, rowed by a variety of loquacious characters, putting ashore often to admire the majestic of existence and to remember that paradise as commonly known is the geographer’s mistake. It is not a place but a state of mind. The genesis of this sub-genre might well be the Thin Man by Dashiell Hammett.
