Banned Book Club

The Banned Book Club at Heinrich-Böll-Bibliothek is a regular, open discussion series dedicated to exploring books that have been challenged, censored, or debated. Together, we read and reflect on works that raise complex social, political, and cultural questions, creating space for thoughtful conversation about literature, freedom of expression, and the power of controversial stories. The club offers a welcoming, moderated environment where participants can share perspectives, questions, and reactions— whether they loved the book, disliked it, or remain undecided. There is no rigid format. Everyone is welcome to shape the discussion. We also invite participants to help shape its future, from selecting titles to defining the rhythm and focus of upcoming meetings.
