About A Literal Literature Alliteration
Thanks for hopping over to the page! I have had this idea for some amount of time, and I decided that 2025 was going to be the year where it became a reality, so I'm going to talk about my vision first.
I have always found a traditional "book club" a very restrictive place; you had to go out of your way to find a specific book (some even require you to purchase it?), finish it by a certain deadline, or there was some structure attached to it. As a neurospicy human, that puts a LOT of pressure on the plate and almost removes the joy of reading, when in reality I read because I absolutely love it. I read to find the connection that I am seeking, both in the characters in the books and in the online communities. So, what I am hoping to do is to crack the shell on a traditional book club and create a more inclusive space.
I am hoping to build a community where we are simply existing together, doing the activity of reading together, and then sharing our joy.
- We will meet publicly AND via zoom at a minimum of one time a week for about an hour and read together.
- Then we can take turns roundtable style and talk about the things we read, either quotes we found in the sections we finished or some big plot twists we experienced, or anything! There is no pressure at ALL here. I simply am envisioning the concept of connecting and sharing our joy.
I think that having the space to share our thoughts, feelings, and common passion about reading will be a really beautiful way to connect even though we aren't reading the same thing. I know that I find so much joy, light, and beauty in my human experience through literature and I hope you will join me either virtually or in person to do the same.
As of right now there is no set time/date/plan to meet, but I will begin advertising this for 2025 and hopefully start to connect with some people soon.
