About A Book Worth Reading

Because we are just starting out, we are completely open to new members and looking for passionate people to help shape our community from the ground up!

Our group will focus specifically on amplifying diverse authors and underrepresented perspectives, including LGBTQ+ voices, writers of color, and stories that challenge mainstream narratives. Together, we'll create an open, and empathetic space to discuss complex themes, celebrate intellectual freedom, and understand the world through a wider lens.

Where and how we meet

We are looking to meet in person throughout Saint Paul! To keep things fresh and support our local community, our gatherings will rotate through a variety of neighborhood spaces:

  • Local book shops
  • Cozy coffee shops
  • Neighborhood breweries
  • Public libraries

What we do

  • Read with Intention: We dive into fiction and non-fiction titles that have faced censorship, analyzing why they were challenged and what they teach us today.
  • Elevate Diverse Voices: We intentionally select books by marginalized creators to ensure our reading list reflects the full spectrum of human experience.
  • Build Community: We hold respectful, open-minded discussions where every perspective is valued and every voice is heard.

Who is this for

Since we are an entirely new group, there are no established cliques, everyone is starting fresh together! Whether you are a lifelong avid reader, someone looking to diversify your bookshelf, or a passionate advocate for free speech, you have a place at our table. Come with an open mind and help us build this community from our very first page.

Because if a book is worth banning, it’s a book worth reading.
