In 2020, George Floyd's murder sparked an interest of mine to get back into literature, and more specifically, Black literature.

Rules:

- We will be reading texts written by Black authors. Some I have read, but some I have not. You are welcome to suggest texts, but I can’t promise we’ll read them.

- Please read the scheduled text before each meeting which will be held virtually. We can’t discuss if no one has read the book.

- If you have any supplementary material you’d like to add, please do so on the message board! If there’s something we missed during meetings that you want to bring attention to, open discussion in is welcome. If something comes up during your readings for the current week, please hold until verbal discussion.

- Because we will be reading complex literature there will be a learning curve for everyone. Please be kind and open to different perspectives. I don’t want meetings to be heavily debate-style. Rather, I want to encourage everyone to challenge their current perspectives and listen to the voices of others, especially when Black members speak from personal experiences.

- Please respect everyone’s chosen names, gender, sexuality, pronouns, etc.

Black Lives Matter. All Black lives matter. This is not up for debate.
