Betrayal and secrets are major themes in the novel. Discuss how the characters' pasts come back to haunt them in the present day. In what ways are they unable to escape their histories?
The novel features several major twists and surprises as the story unfolds. Which twist or reveal caught you the most off guard?
In retrospect, were there any hints or foreshadowing that you noticed that pointed toward the major twists in the story? How effective was the author in planting these clues while still maintaining an element of surprise?
