Book club questions for Anatomy of an Alibi by Ashley Elston

Use these discussion questions to guide your next book club meeting.

This is a fast-paced thriller. Were you able to keep things straight with large number of characters and how fast and furious the twists came?
What did you think of the alternating points of views Elston uses (including the falshbacks from Ben's POV)? Was this an effective way to tell the story?
Did you feel like all the characters were fully developed? Did their individual motivations make sense?
Camille and Aubrey have very different lives, but are both unhappy. Contrast their situations at the beginning of the novel.
Why do Camille and Aubrey agree to work together? Did their plan make sense? Were there other avenues they could have pursued?
The book raises multiple questions: Who killed Ben? Who killed Aubrey’s parents? What’s on the flash drive? Did you figure out the answers to any (or all three!) of these questions before the answers were revealed?
What misdirection did Elston use to keep you guessing? What breadcrumbs did she leave that, in retrospect, pointed the way?
How does Elston demonstrate the corrupting influence of money and power in the novel?
Discuss the title and how it relates to the book as a whole and especially to that last sentence!
Did you read Elston's 2024 hit thriller, "First Lie Wins"? If so, compare the two novels. Which did you prefer and why?
