A beautiful love letter written to water. A poetic meditation on humans and our fascination with and drive to experience another element, be it for purposes of survival, competition, therapeutics, or creativity.

As a swimmer, I really wanted to love this book but I couldn't. There was little that resonated with me or spoke to me on a deeper level. I wanted a love letter to swimming; instead, I got a history lesson that sometimes felt awkward and repetitive in structure.
