White Horse Black Nights (The Godkissed Bride)

I wanted to give more stars, but it was hard enough to give six. The storyline had SO MUCH potential, but the writing was mid at best. Some of the language trails from what appears to be a sort of a medieval era to almost modern and it doesn't entirely blend well. The concept of time is nearly nonexistent, so what feels like a day or two was somehow morphed into weeks (specifically 21 days). I know a lot of other people mention the nakedness while riding a horse, which I myself never have ridden one so I can't speak truly on this behalf; however, the author does note the bruising and rawness that Sabine feels from after the journey. I want to love Wolf's point of view, I really do. But, his point of view is written sooo.... teen angst? So unorganized? Can I even call it that? I despise maid and butler dialogue AND THERE IS SO MUCH. Ease me into the world, guide me into the mentalities of the characters - here, I am just spoon fed if not drowned in the information that its not even making me wonder what happens next because you'll just tell me on the next page. You see this specifically in Wolf's point of view with him betraying Sabine and the whole letter from her father explaining her true identity. And secondly, was her father really going to put THAT much detail into a black mail letter? Let's be real, that's a negative. The spice was excellent. Do I like the unknown triangle and affairs behind close doors? OOoooh, yes. Do I enjoy Wolf's possessiveness? Maybe too much, I love when he gives into his animalistic side. How do I feel about Sabine? I like her when she disobedient and KNOWINGLY making her own decisions. But she constantly flips from this smart, woman who knows her bounds to a teenager girl, clueless in love (*sigh*). Am I reading book two? Yeah, I'm already invested. How much will I enjoy it? Hmmm.. guess we'll have to wait and see.

My first 5⭐️ of the year!!! What an amazing story. We follow Sabine, a god kissed girl who can speak to animals, who is married off by her father to Lord Rian, who demands she travels 21 days to him by horseback, completely nude. Sabine is accompanied by Wolf, a god kissed huntsman, sworn to protect Sabine by Lord Rian, his master and friend. The journey, the slow burn, her conviction (she is an absolute bad ass), his heart (he has one!! and it’s only for her). What an adventure. Book Boyfriend: Wolf 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️’s

DNF at 50%.
First, I'm just not into instant lust that somehow turns into love.

Second, I actually really liked the FMC

Third, I hated the MMC. Everything from his POV felt way too focused on sex and he was too possessive. Some possessiveness can be hot in a book, but this was too much.

Fourth, I had a really hard time with the idea that she had to ride naked bareback on a horse for 3 weeks, and this isn't causing any kind of problems for her, especially down there. I know there's a certain amount of things you need to overlook in a fantasy, but this was really difficult given how much of the plot this takes up.

Horrible dialogue, mediocre writing, but a good plot. Main character was raised in a convent so she’s boring and virginal as fuck, but she gets less annoying as the plot progresses.
